Meteorites have been falling all throughout history. In this lecture we will touch on a few of the more historical meteorite falls going back to the late 1700’s and how they have shaped history and science. It’s very interesting how the early scientists viewed meteorites and where they came from.
Most of these meteorites are about 4.5 Billion years old, and come from the very earliest stages of solar system formation. Meteorites represent the ONLY samples that we have preserved for study from that time long ago. The meteorite specimens that were used for this Power Point lecture will be at the presentation for inspection.
