Tonight's meeting began at 6:37 at the Greek Orthodox Church with 36 in attendance.

Mike told the group that our meetings were free, but to go on field trips one needs to

become a member at $12 for an individual or $15 for a family. It was noted that some did

not receive a Shale Mail and were encouraged to add their e-mail addresses to the

attendance roster. On our Club website there is information regarding our upcoming

Conference, Mineral Show, field trips, and meetings.

Our guest speaker Dr. Charles Merguerian was introduced by our president. The program

was titled, "Geology of NYC Megaconstruction Projects". Charles shared his many

experiences with the geology during the construction of several of the tunnels under NYC.

The geological underpinings, ancient conditions, and passive margin collisions were

discussed. Many evacuation methods were shown on slides and short videos to enhance

the presentation, with some being rather comical. Charles told us that geology controls how

the rock breaks. Different types of machines are in use for the different conditions that are

encountered. The anticipated vs actual costs can be in the millions of dollars when

problems are encountered such as faults and the type of rock. Many amazing slides and

videos kept the audience in suspense. A question and answer time followed the very

interesting and informative presentation.

Our business meeting part of the evening began at 8:04. Introductions around the room were made.

There were no changes to the March Shale Mail minutes and were accepted as printed.

We nominated, voted, and accepted Heather as our new Webmaster. She will be given 3

tickets for the Banquet as a thank you for her outstanding job.

The Banquet will be Saturday evening at Limoncello in Goshen. There will be a Friday meeting/editors' breakfast.

At our next monthly meeting this will be firmed up.

Treasurer's report was given.

So far we have 31 vendors for our Show. An e-mail blast will go out to the vendors soon.

Ron contacted Mike Sosler asking about an ATM machine for the Show. Plan B is using

"Square" to connect to the computer in Mike's office.

Upcoming Shows were mentioned. Contact Alex regarding the Sterling Hill trip that takes

place on April 20 from 9 to 4 which has mostly fluorescent material. This Sunday meet at

the Dunkin Donuts in Florida for a field trip and lecture. The Super Digg is April 27-28.

There was no old business to discuss.

New business...The Shale Mail is a benefit to the members, and it was determined that it will not be on the website.
Gary purchased the new domain and is still working on the non-profit organization info.

Donations are welcomed for the raffle taking place at the the Show to benefit the EFLMS.

Ryan is sharing his claim with the Club members on the weekend after the Show. Please let

him know if you are joining him that day.

It was another successful Club meeting with good friends and tasty, abundant refreshments.
